Philips announced today at IFA 2018 in Berlin that it will update the Hue app for iOS with support for Siri Shortcuts. With Siri Shortcuts integration, Hue users will be able to further customize their Shortcuts to include Hue-specific lighting settings. As reported by iCulture, this means users will not need to use the Home app to control their Hue lights via Siri. Further, Hue lights will be able to directly integrate into Siri Shortcuts similar to how HomeKit also integrates with Shortcuts....

I woke up today with an email that one of my favorite apps is going away. Record Bird was a tool that would let you know when your favorite artists had new music coming out. It’s being shut down tomorrow. The app could scan your Apple Music or Spotify database and import all of your existing artists. It would then build a list of release dates, recommend new ones, inform you of concert dates, etc....

The phone numbers and personal data of over 553 million Facebook users have been published online for free by a user in a low-level hacking forum, according to Business Insider. At least 100 countries are included in this leak, with data from 32 million users in the U.S. and 11 millions users in the UK. Niantic is celebrating Pokémon Go’s launch anniversary next month with the first official real-world event taking place in Chicago. Pokémon Go will also kick off another in-game event next week leading up to the first day of summer. The real-world event will be ticketed and Niantic has a countdown timer already in place before tickets go on sale. Niantic says more real-world events are being planned across Europe and Japan for later this year as well....

Chinese site CTechCN is showing photos of what they claim to be the logic board for the upcoming iPhone 5C. When compared with alleged photos of the iPhone 5S logic board, we can see slight design differences. An iPhone 5c saved the life of a 25-year-old gunshot victim, according to British police (via Business Insider). The victim, who has not been named, was shot at close range with a shotgun and suffered serious abdominal injuries, but survived thanks to the iPhone 5c in his pocket taking the main force. The shooting happened when the victim approached a group of teenagers who had shut off the water supply to the apartment block in which he lived....

Philips has confirmed on Facebook that it will be adding HomeKit support to its iPhone-controlled Hue lighting system – and that existing lights will be compatible. The post gives no specific details, but in response to a customer question about whether existing Hue lights will work with HomeKit, Philips confirmed that they will. The most likely approach is that Philips will offer a hub to act as a bridge between HomeKit and existing Hue products....
