Version 1.3 of Pokémon Go is rolling out on iOS and brings a few minor features and fixes to the hit game. Most notably, users now have the ability to change their username once and a bug that prevented bonus XP from throws has been resolved. An update last weekend allowed users to customize their character avatars after the initial set-up. Players can now change their nicknames by going into Settings > Change Nickname....

The popular PCalc calculator app has received a great update for Mac today. The latest version brings a full-on button layout editor to create the exact calculator you want on your Mac – including customization of the menu bar widget. Other new changes include widget layouts available to use in the main app, the ability to resize button layouts, and more. PCalc creator James Thomson shared the news on Twitter as the update landed on the Mac App Store....

Stunfisk is one of the new additions in the game, and you can capture the Pokémon even after the event ends. The Pokémon Go Great League reward system will also award you with the Pokémon Stunfisk. It’ll be available to you as a random encounter after you gain the fourth rank in the league....

Just a couple of days after banning deepfake videos, Facebook has confirmed that politicians can still lie in ads bought on the platform… The New York Times reports that Facebook’s stance is that if it’s not illegal, it’s ok. Facebook earlier announced that it was banning deepfakes from the platform – fake videos created using AI – but bizarrely still permitting other forms of deceptive video editing. “In the absence of regulation, Facebook and other companies are left to design their own policies,” Rob Leathern, Facebook’s director of product management overseeing the advertising integrity division, said in the post....

Piper Jaffray today published the results of its semi-annual “Taking Stock with Teens” survey. The survey questioned 8,000 high school students in the United States, and as usual, Apple came out atop in the smartphone category. Of the 8,000 students who were surveyed, 83 percent said they were iPhone owners followed by 9 percent saying they were Android users. In terms of the future smartphone purchases, 86 percent said they plan for their next smartphone to be an iPhone....

Apple today has pulled a popular Instagram client from the App Store after it was found to be harvesting usernames and passwords. First noticed by developer David L-R on Twitter, the Instagram client InstaAgent has been pulled from the App Store. The app, downloaded more than half a million times, touted that it would let you see who had been viewing your Instagram profile. David L-R notes in his tweets that InstaAgent was sending account information, including usernames and passwords, unencrypted to a remote server that was not connected to Instagram officially in any way, shape, or form....
