UPDATE [Wednesday, November 9, 10:15am ET] Adobe has confirmed the news in a blog post, saying “HTML5 is now universally supported on major mobile devices, in some cases exclusively” (perhaps a not-so-subtle hint at iOS?) The unthinkable could happen this morning, if there’s any substance to ZDNet’s report asserting that Adobe is about to cease development on Flash for mobile devices in order to refocus its efforts on HTML5 while suggesting that Flash developers re-package their content as AIR apps....

A free-to-play app called Zoshy+ has been gradually climbing up the Puzzle game charts on the App Store. Based on its screenshots and app description, the app looks like an innocuous Sudoku client. Zoshy+ is listed under the developer account with the name “Ha Miller,” the individual’s only published app. This app appears to have circumvented App Review by taking advantage of server-side controls....

Sid Meier’s Civilization 6 is a significant turn-based strategy game that is developed by Firaxis and published by 2K Games. The game has been receiving widespread acclamation since its release since 2016 for Microsoft Windows. Following its release, the game was ported to other major platforms that include Xbox One, Play Station 4 and Nintendo Switch. The response was overwhelming. Kid-focused podcasts are a fun way to pass the time during summer travel, and one of my favorite new ones is Treasure Island 2020. Elcomsoft’s Phone Breaker software, used by law enforcement agencies but also thought to have been used by iCloud hackers to access celebrity nudes, has been updated to support accounts using two-factor authentication, reports MacWorld. It can also now access WhatsApp message files and iWork documents. It’s not as scary as it sounds – the software can only be used once the attacker already has an Apple ID and password, together with either a second trusted device or your recovery key....

Whilst WWDC is typically focused on software announcements like iOS 11, this year several reports point to new hardware announcements including a new 10.5-inch iPad Pro model. In line with that expectation, photos are now surfacing showing cases sized for the new 10.5-inch iPad. Similar to rumors for iPhone 8, Apple will shrink the bezels to fit a larger display in approximately the same physical chassis size as the 9.7-inch iPad Pro....

A neat hack called PlexConnect now allows the popular Plex media server app to run on ATV2 and ATV3 boxes without the need to jailbreak them. Enter PlexConnect. The brainchild of Baa, roidy and f00b4r, it’s a super clever little hack which allows a rich, fully-functional Plex client on un-jailbroken ATV2 and ATV3 (1080p!) devices. Essentially, you run a program on your computer which masquerades as the Trailer app. Next, change one setting on the ATV, and you’re up and running....

Apple’s podcast charts recently started displaying some odd results, with previously unknown real estate, business and fitness podcasts taking over the top spots previously occupied by genuinely popular ones like Serial. Manipulation via click farms was immediately suspected, and a new analysis provides pretty conclusive evidence that this is the case. Worse, though, it shows that it is happening again, despite Apple’s intervention … Chartable did a deep dive into the issue, starting with Bulletproof Real Estate – which took the #1 slot in the podcast charts....

With further rumors of a larger iPad in the works – the latest one Chinese site Pad News claiming that Apple is testing several variants of a 12.9-inch iPad – we thought it would be interesting to gauge the level of interest. The specifics of this claim fall well into sketchy territory. Pad News suggests a 4K display, which wouldn’t match iPad resolution ratios (though as the current iPad is close to 2K, something close to 4K wouldn’t be impossible)....

The extremely popular ‘Dots: A Game About Connecting’ title for iPhone, which happen to hit around 100 million games played in just a couple weeks after its launch last month, today received an update that brings the title to the larger screen with support for iPad. The Paddington producers are developing a Pippi Longstocking movie. Though the Paddington Bear novels by author Michael Bond have become a global phenomenon since first being introduced in 1958, the famed bear’s theatrical adaptations - Paddington and Paddington 2, have also earned plenty of praise. The series, about a young bear from “darkest Peru” who leaves home in order to find a better life in London and stumbles headlong into adventure in the process, brought together some high profile talent such as Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Ben Whishaw and Hugh Grant....

[Update: Pebble says its app for Pebble Time users has been approved and should hit the App Store in 2-3 hours if you can’t see it yet.] Despite its official release at the end of May, Pebble’s new Pebble Time watch is not yet fully functional for iPhone users, as its required iOS synchronization app is not yet available in the App Store. The Pebble Time Watch application allows users to set up the Pebble Time wearable, install new applications, watch faces, and software updates, but backers who have received the hardware have taken to social media to complain that there’s no iPhone app to use with it....

Showtime’s sequel series Penny Dreadful: City of Angels finds a formidable new character in former Game of Thrones player Natalie Dormer. The upcoming series is be hailed as a spiritual successor to creator John Logan’s (Skyfall) original Victorian-era romantic horror series that starred Josh Hartnett, Eva Green, Timothy Dalton, Rory Kinnear, Billie Piper, and Harry Treadaway. That series ran for three seasons before surprising viewers with an abrupt ending that left many wanting more....
