A new We the People petition has been created urging the White House to “halt efforts that compel Apple and other device makers to create a “backdoor” for the Government to access citizens data” (via MacReports). The petition comes as Apple CEO Tim Cook this week penned an open letter detailing why the company is resisting a demand from the FBI to unlock a device belonging to a suspect in the high profile San Bernardino shooter case....

The Tech Block on Thursday shared an email exchange between Apple marketing chief Phil Schiller and the website’s founder Abdel Ibrahim that pokes fun at Google Glass for its perception of being an unstylish device. The emails from 2012 surfaced just days after Google announced that it will be ending its Glass Explorer program on Monday as it works on a new version under the leadership of Tony Faddell. After being sent a picture of actor Steve Martin wearing obnoxious looking glasses in the film “The Jerk,” mocking Google co-founder Sergey Brin wearing Glass, Schiller responds to Ibrahim saying “that is very funny” and that he “can’t believe they think anyone (normal) will ever wear these things....

Pixelmator for iOS is seeing an update today that adds support for the new iPad Pro display sizes as well as the double-tap gesture for the Apple Pencil. The update also brings a number of bug fixes and stability improvements. Today’s update brings the app to version 2.4.4 and is now available on the App Store. Shortly after launching F1 2016 for Mac, Feral Interactive has announced that it is doing the same for the popular PC game Total War: Warhammer. The game is a blend of Creative Assembly’s Total War series with Games Workshop’s Warhammer Fantasy Battles. Popular audio accessory company Pioneer today announced a new line of Lightning earbuds that the company says offers an experience not possible with traditional 3.5mm headphones. The “Rayz” series includes two pairs of earbuds, the Rayz and the Rayz Plus and will be available soon.
