After officially announcing its new CarPlay feature for connecting iOS devices to select in-car entertainment systems, Apple followed up with confirmation that we’d also see aftermarket products with support for the feature. Pioneer was one of the first to announce that the feature would arrive on a number of the in-car systems it sells, and today we’re getting our first look at the feature in action on the hardware. Pioneer gave a few demos of CarPlay this week running on its aftermarket in-car systems, including the video above from MacWorld, and another from DigitalTrends....

Power Rangers, Lionsgate’s Mighty Morphin’ silver screen reboot, is back with a second trailer to tide us over until March. We get a closer look at some of the footage from the first go around, plus some healthy additions that give us some room to let our imaginations run wild. One thing is for sure: the names might be the same, but these are not the Rangers from our childhood. There are callsback to the original series for sure, but everything we see and experience in this new trailer is carving out uncharted territory for the old fandom to explore and to hook new fans for the first time....

Well that was fast. On Thursday the FAA announced that it would allow personal devices to be turned on during all phases of flight from takeoff to landing. This came with the clause that airlines would have to have their planes inspected for possible frequency interference and if passed would then be able to allow passengers to use their devices from gate to gate. Delta was the first to pass testing and began allowing devices the same day the announcement passed....

An exception is unexpected program result that can be handled by the program itself. Examples of exception include trying to open a file that does not exist. This exception can be handled by either creating the file or presenting the user with an option of searching for the file....

Niantic has recently introduced the Bug Out event in their popular augmented reality game, Pokémon GO. This event consists of a number of research tasks that have to be completed within a certain time limit. As the name of the event makes it clear, it is centered around Bug-type Pokémon. You will be able to obtain these tasks by spinning Poke Stops as you go around. They will be featured alongside the regular monthly Research Tasks that are presently available....

Yesterday we decided not to run with a story published by Bloomberg that Pegatron’s forecasted 25 percent to 30 percent drop for second-quarter revenue was due to “falling iPad mini demand.” It seemed a little far fetched that an Apple supplier would be giving up specific information on product demand, something we know suppliers in Apple’s circle typically remain tight-lipped on. Today CEO of Pegatron Jason Cheng has confirmed our suspicions in an email to Fortune claiming that Bloomberg reporter Tim Culpan made the iPad mini angle up....

The newest Philips Hue product is slated for release soon and will allow users to sync up their smart lights and TV for a rich gaming and viewing experience. The Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box connects between your set-top boxes, game consoles, etc. and your TV to offer smart light effects that match what’s happening on screen.
