The final trailer for Pet Sematary has arrived. Based on the 1983 novel by Stephen King, the film once again tells the tale of a family who discover their new home is located near an ancient burial ground with the ability to resurrect the dead… but with a terrible price. Early word of mouth around the movie is strong, with critics praising Pet Sematary as one of the better adaptations of King’s work in recent years (next to films like IT and Gerald’s Game), following its premiere at SXSW in March....

Luminar for Mac is today getting a significant update that makes editing photos within the app much improved and easier than before. The headlining feature of this update is called AI Sky Enhancer. AI Sky Enhancer allows users to “add depth, definition and detail to the sky without creating artifacts or affecting other aspects of the image.” This means images with trees and bridges, which are usually tough to isolate, will stay intact while the artificial intelligence engine is able to brighten or darken the sky....

Pokemon GO is putting Pokemon Diamond’s Dialga front-and-center for its latest Legendary Raid Boss. With previous raids featuring Palkia and Latias, it seemed like a logical step that the Steel/Dragon Legendary Pokemon was next to make its mark for the game’s March event. As Niantic’s popular title continues to be a staple of the mobile gaming market, Dialga is a big name to arrive in March. The temporal terror will be the fifth Legendary Pokemon from the Sinnoh region, following in the footsteps of Giratina, Cresselia, Heatran, and Palkia....

Following reports yesterday that car electronics manufacturer Alpine was planning to launch aftermarket CarPlay units in the fall, Pioneer issued a press release today confirming a firmware update for existing in-dash systems. Pioneer will be bringing Apple’s new CarPlay system to existing vehicles using the company’s five 2014 NEX in-dash multimedia receivers this summer through a firmware update. As for what vehicles and in-dash systems it will support, it sounds like it will be limited to 2014 editions of the in-dash receivers mentioned above....

Right now Apple’s killing it on many levels and one of the reasons is because they own kids and teens. Some call it the Apple brainwash, others think it’s world-class marketing put to work. Whichever the case, it’s working out to Apple’s advantage, much to the horror of their rivals. A Piper Jaffray survey of 4,500 kids in the US revealed that over 50 percent of teens could own an iPhone in the next six months – 17 percent already have one and 37 percent plan on buying the device in the next six months....

The Big in Japan sale is now live on the PlayStation Store and it has reduced the price on over 500 games, including titles like Code Vein, Kingdom Hearts III, and Nier: Automata. PlayStation is the best-selling home console brand of all time, which means that developers from all around the world (that aren’t owned by Nintendo or Microsoft) have been lining up to get their games on the PlayStation 4....

While the Tower Theatre is far from the largest building on Broadway, its architecture is perhaps the most unique. SSLv3 is an old version of the SSL protocol, dating back to 1996 and debuted with Netscape Navigator. While a very old version of SSL, it is still widely supported by browsers and servers today. According to SSL Pulse, 98% of web servers support SSLv3 in October 2014. Fortunately more secure replacements for SSLv3 have existed for a long time, such as TLS 1.0. Since TLS has been widely adopted for several years now, nearly all browsers will opt to use TLS instead of SSLv3....

The Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security (PJCIS) in an advisory report this week said it supports the passing of new intelligence oversight laws that would extend the IGIS’s oversight role to the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC) and the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC). The IGIS already has existing oversight arrangements with six agencies within Australia’s national intelligence community (NIC), including the Office of National Intelligence, Australian Security Intelligence Organisation, Australian Secret Intelligence Service, Australian Signals Directorate, Australian Geospatial-Intelligence Organisation, and Defence Intelligence Organisation....

It seems the App Store has reached peak “flappy.” According to TechCrunch, multiple developers report that Apple has started blanket-rejections of apps using the word in the name, and perhaps it’s for the best. Four of the top ten free apps on the store are Flappy Bird clones—including all of the top three. Granted, only two of those four apps includes the word “flappy” in the title, but they all follow a pretty basic naming scheme that’s easy to spot....

The podcasting industry is booming with heavy investment from large players like Google, Apple, and Spotify. NPR and a public radio consortium last year acquired Pocket Casts to offer its own experience and already released a major update in March with version 7.0. Today, Pocket Casts is going free and adding a “Plus” subscription. Previously $3.99 for Android and iOS, the podcast player is now free to download. One common concern with paid apps dropping price tags completely is features becoming tiered behind a subscription....
