On Friday, rumors suggested Apple will introduce a new MacBook available in iMac-style colors, which could mean a white keyboard and bezels and colored chassis. Would you buy one? Following the M1 iMac announcement, which is set to be released in the second half of May, Apple could be planning another colored computer, this time a new MacBook or an Air model resembling the iMac G3 colors. WhatsApp, one of the most popular cross-platform messaging services, has received an anticipated iPhone overhaul for the iOS 7 design aesthetic. The free app update includes a redesigned, less glossy icon as well as an entirely new interface throughout the application. WhatsApp is testing an easier way to add a contact, or share your own contact details with someone else: using a personal QR code … Adding a new WhatsApp contact is both awkward and counterintuitive at present. You can’t do it directly in the app, but have to open the Phone app, tap the Contacts tab and add them as a new contact there. Only when you have done that can you open WhatsApp and send them a message....
Apple’s butterfly keyboard design has been a polarizing change since it was introduced. Some users love it, while others have had numerous issues. Now, a new Change.org petition aims to force Apple to recall the butterfly keyboard and replace it with a “different working keyboard.” The petition was created by Matthew Taylor and calls for Apple to recall every MacBook Pro released since late 2016 and replace the keyboards with a new and redesigned approach....
Popular social network Pinterest has today announced a major update to its iOS app. In a blog post, the company detailed all of the changes coming with today’s update, including a refreshed interface, better localization for different markets, and more. Pinterest says that this update is a “near complete rewrite” of the app, which means there’s a variety of visual and under-the-hood enhancements. As far as the visual changes go, users will notice that there’s a renewed focus on Pins with the updated design....
Paid subscribers to Fallout 76’s new membership service, Fallout 1st, have formed an in-game “apocalyptic aristocracy” of sorts. Fallout 1st was announced and released on the 23rd of October as a premium service costing $12.99 a month or $99.99 a year. The service gives players access to a number of in-game perks, including unique emotes, in-game resources, a regular income of premium currency, and the ability to play on a private server....

Paul McCartney has partnered with Emma Stone to create a new video for his anti-bullying song, Who Cares, from his 2018 album Egypt Station. The new musical short is available now as an Apple Music exclusive. McCartney’s latest album was released in September this year. The hour-long, 16-track release includes the song Who Cares which tackles the subject of bullying. Apple promoted that the new 6-minute musical short on Twitter today, which is live for Apple Music subscribers....

As Apple’s September 10th iPhone event approaches, a few new photos claiming to show packaged “iPhone 5Cs” and accompanying materials have surfaced online. The first photo comes from website iApps.im, and it purports to show several “iPhone 5C” units in packaging. The “iPhone 5C” is what many are calling Apple’s upcoming lower-cost, plastic-backed iPhone. According to a new report from ZDNet, a popular app used by parents to monitor their teens has suffered a data breach. The app, TeenSafe, touts that it’s a “secure” monitor app for iOS that allows parents to monitor text messages, location, calling history, web history, and more. Included in the data breach, the report says, was a list of plaintext Apple ID passwords… Included in the TeenSafe servers was a list of the parent’s email addresses, as well as their child’s Apple ID email address....

Since 2008, Apple has implemented the same 70/30 revenue split on all App Store purchases. Recently however, companies have been actively fighting against the cut. The matter has even wondered near the US Supreme Court, with arguments being heard by the court last November. Just weeks ago, developer of Fortnite, Epic Games, sought to launch its own app store with a more gracious 88/12 revenue split. A report by Bloomberg Quint reiterates the ever nagging issue, mentioning how just as Apple revisits earning estimates due to flailing iPhone sales, now marks a poor time to lower its cut....

Photograph finds joy in the spaces between its story mechanics, which makes it easier to appreciate the film’s occasionally patience-trying methods. The fourth feature by acclaimed Indian filmmaker Ritesh Batra, Photograph made its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January, and was generally praised for being a quietly moving tale of love blossoming from an unexpected place. It’s familiar territory for Batra, who initially made a name for himself with his efforts on 2013’s similarly delicate rom-dram, The Lunchbox, and has since tried his hand at the December-December romance Our Souls at Night....
New character posters for Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales feature returning players like Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) and new characters including Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem).
