A trailer for SNL star Pete Davidson’s Alive From New York teases his upcoming Netflix stand-up special. Davidson is a comedian and actor who is best known for his tenure on Saturday Night Live. He first joined the series as a cast member during the show’s 40th season. At 20 years old, Davidson was the first SNL cast member to be born in the ’90s.
The now 26-year-old comedian is still a cast member on the show. Davidson has also starred in movies such as 2019’s What Men Want, a movie about a sports agent who gains the ability to hear men’s inner thoughts. Davidson played the role of Danny, another agent at the agency. Davidson also voiced one of the characters in The Angry Birds Movie 2. He will be playing a part in the upcoming DCEU movie The Suicide Squad as well.
Streaming giant Netflix announced and debuted a trailer for Pete Davidson’s upcoming Alive From New York stand-up special. The trailer shows a few bits from Davidson’s routine. The special was filmed at the Gramercy Theatre in New York. This will be Davidson’s first ever Netflix stand-up special. Netflix is already home to many stand-up specials from big-time comics, including Bill Burr, Dave Chappelle, and Bo Burnham. Check out the trailer below:
While this is Davidson’s first Netflix special, he’s no newcomer to the stand-up scene. The comedian has been performing stand-up since the age of 16. His routines usually incorporate anecdotes from his real life, and he touches on topics ranging from relationships, sex, and marijuana. He has also discussed very personal issues as well, including the loss of his father on 9/11. In 2019, Davidson did a comedy tour with fellow stand-up comedian John Mulaney. Mulaney has already had several specials released on Netflix.
Davidson is a very talented comic who isn’t afraid to get deeply personal with his comedy. Through sharing experiences from his own life, he’s proven himself to be a comic incredibly easy to relate to, which has undoubtedly helped him build his popularity to where it is right now. The Netflix special will be a welcome addition to the streaming service, especially for fans who have not been able to catch a live show. In fact, details from his live shows are likely scarce due to the $1 million NDA that the comedian had people sign before they could attend his stand-up tour last December. Thankfully, this special is available to anyone who has a Netflix subscription (or access to a family member’s). Catch the Saturday Night Live star when the special premieres globally on Netflix on February 25th.
