Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX is a remake of the original Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team for the Game Boy Advance and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team for the Nintendo DS, released in 2005. The Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series has had many iterations since, but will now be brought back to its root on the Nintendo Switch with a visual overhaul.
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon is a series of roguelike dungeon crawler games that feature Pokémon as the playable characters and enemies. The player travels through randomized dungeons attempting to complete missions as a Rescue Team. This Rescue Team can be expanded to include all of the over 400 Pokémon in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX, adding new Pokémon that weren’t in the original games. Here’s a basic guide on how to start recruiting some of these Pokémon onto a Rescue Team.
Requirements For Recruiting Pokémon In Rescue Team DX
Recruiting Pokémon will not be available from the very beginning of the game. In order to be able to recruit Pokémon, the player must progress through the story and beat the first boss at Mt. Steel.
Upon returning home, head over to the town square and talk to Wigglytuff. Wigglytuff will give the player their first Rescue Team Camps, areas that will host the Rescue Team’s new recruits, and sell other ones from then on. Keep in mind that to recruit a Pokémon, the player must have the proper Rescue Team Camp for that Pokémon to live in.
How To Recruit Pokémon in Rescue Team DX
In order to recruit a wild Pokémon in a dungeon, the player will first need to defeat the Pokémon with their Team Leader. The final blow needs to be dealt by the Team Leader in order to recruit it. When defeating a wild Pokémon, there is a small chance that the Pokémon will want to join the player’s Rescue Team. This chance varies depending on the Pokémon that was defeated.
If a Pokémon is successfully recruited it will immediately join the party. The recruited Pokémon and the rest of the party must make it out of the dungeon and the recruited member cannot be knocked out for it to be permanently added to the team.
It is possible to increase the chances of having a Pokémon join by using the Friend Bow. The Friend Bow is an equipable item that will make it more likely that wild Pokémon will join the player when equipped to the Team Leader. It will increase the chances of Shiny Pokémon joining the player as well.
