In celebration of the App Store’s 5th anniversary, Apple is giving away a handful of apps for free! Some of the apps available right now too. It’s very cool, because many of these usually cost a good amount of money. For instance, Traktor DJ, which we are in the process of reviewing, is 20 bucks.

Also free right now are Barefoot World Atlas, Day One (a journal/diary app), How to Cook Everything, Over, Traktor DJ (normally $19.99), Badland, Infinity Blade II (extremely popular game), Superbothers: Sword and Sworcery EP, Tiny Wings, and Disney’s popular game Where’s My Water?. All of these are top-rated apps, and all are very popular. None of them are really throwaway stuff by any means. It’s worth at the very least checking out the apps and downloading a handful if not all of them. Heck, they are free! Just make sure you have enough storage space on your iOS device before going nuts and downloading them all. In fact, this might be a good time to go through all of your apps and delete the ones you never use. If you don’t like any of these free offerings, it’s no big loss. That said, it’s hard not to like at least some of these. They are all well-made. Just head over to the App Store on your device or in iTunes on your computer and check out the special 5 Years of the App Store banner at the top.

Which apps will you snag while they’re free? Leave a comment and let us know how you like them! Update: Electronic Arts has also added a handful of games to the free lineup: Dead Space, Mirror’s Edge, Flight Control and The Sims: Medieval are all free right now in both iPhone and iPad versions.
